How A/C Systems Work

The air conditioning system cools and removes humidity from the air through three main components; the compressor, condenser and evaporator. The compressor is a pump driven by the serpentine belt that pressurizes high-pressure refrigerant gas and forces it out to the condenser. The condenser is a coolant radiator where the coolant is refrigerated to a liquid and access water is extracted. In the final process the refrigerant enters the evaporator coil as a cold, low-pressure liquid. As it cools the hot air in the cabin it turns into a gas again, the refrigerant moves out of the evaporator, taking the heat with it to the compressor, where the process starts all over.

Common Air Conditioning Problems

  • Low Refrigerant
  • Blocked Condenser
  • Lose Hoses
  • Access Moister
  • Compressor Malfunction
  • Defective Compressor Clutch
